Master’s program in Medical Data Science to start in September 2020 at RWTH Aachen International Academy

The Medical Faculty of RWTH Aachen University with the Institute of Medical Informatics under the direction of Professor R. Röhrig, M.D., and the RWTH International Academy will offer the postgraduate, part-time and interprofessional degree program “Master of Science in Medical Data Science (M.Sc.)” starting in September 2020. The four-semester program is aimed at graduates of medical and life science programs as well as graduates from the fields of computer science, mathematics and natural sciences with specific professional experience in medical informatics. The teaching is done by scientists from medicine and computer science of the RWTH as well as institutions from the SMITH Consortium.

The program builds on the BMHI learning objectives catalog designed by SMITH, which aims to design, map, and make comparable medical informatics teaching. Together with the RWTH International Academy, a targeted and innovative study program organized under private law has been developed, which offers participants and their companies and institutions promising perspectives in dealing with large amounts of data of good quality and in compliance with strict data protection requirements.
