The 34th Medical Informatics Europe Conference is themed “Digital Health and Informatics Innovations for Sustainable Health Care Systems” and aims to advance international collaboration and dissemination of information in medical informatics in Europe and to promote research and development in medical informatics. The scientific program includes keynote lectures by distinguished scientists, peer-reviewed oral presentations, e-poster presentations, panel discussions, workshops, demonstrations and tutorials showcasing advances in biomedical and health informatics around the world.

Under this motto, the leading specialist societies from Germany in the fields of biomedical informatics, biometrics, epidemiology, social medicine, prevention, medical sociology and public health are coming together for the first time: GMDS, DGSMP, DGEPI, DGMS and DGPH. The conference will take place from September 8 to 13. The conference will begin with the GMDS part of the conference from September 8 – 11, 2024, followed by the DGSMP, DGEPI, DGMS and DGPH part of the conference from September 11 – 13, 2024.

The 12th National Biobank Symposium will take place in Berlin from September 23 to 24, 2024. The topics of the symposium include networking at regional and supra-regional level, standardization, harmonization and quality management, as well as IT infrastructures and dialogue with relevant stakeholders. The German biobank community meets once a year at this symposium to create synergies for scientific exchange across disciplines and with industry and the public.

The INFORMATIK FESTIVAL 2024 focuses on digital sovereignty and asks what computer science can do to strengthen digital sovereignty. In addition to contributions on the main topic, there will also be workshops on topics that are currently receiving particular attention in science, practice and society, such as data literacy and data science, Internet of Everything and Industry 4.0, secure and reliable systems, artificial intelligence, autonomous driving and mobility, quantum computing, digital health, green coding, robotics, software engineering, ethics in digitalization and computer science didactics.

The MII consortia MIRACUM and DIFUTURE invite you to a joint symposium under the motto of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) “Networking, Research, Healing” funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The symposium will focus on the embedding of the MII in national and international activities for the use of health data, highlighting current political frameworks and technological developments. With its strong structures, standardized distributed data storage and data integration centers at the university medical sites, the MII has made a significant contribution to the development of a research data infrastructure in Germany. The symposium will also address current legal and ethical issues as well as the topic of artificial intelligence. There will be a special focus on young scientists: selected results from the junior research groups in medical informatics will be presented and the MII Junior Research Group Award will be presented for the first time.

The 13th Annual Meeting of the Society for Drug Use Research and Drug Epidemiology (GAA) will be held at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) in Bonn. There will be a pre-conference workshop on polypharmacy, followed by several sessions on current topics in drug utilization research and drug epidemiology. Special highlights will be the introductory lectures to the different sessions. National and international keynote speakers have already been confirmed. A poster session will take place in which the best posters will be awarded a prize.
