SMITH Congress 2022 – Registration is open!

After two years of pandemic, representatives of the SMITH Consortium together with more than 30 experts from research, healthcare, medical informatics and science policy will finally meet again in presence at this year’s SMITH Congress. Since the 1st SMITH Congress took place in September 2019, digitization in healthcare has evolved significantly. Digital infrastructures for networking research and care have taken on a whole new significance against the backdrop of the pandemic. This is demonstrated, for example, by the clinical use case ASIC, which was able to optimize the intensive medical care of patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) during the Covid-19 pandemic by monitoring relevant patient data.

The 2nd SMITH Congress will now present the consortial results and developments in the development and networking phase of the Medical Informatics Initiative. The congress will take place under the motto “New Solutions in Digital Health” on June 28 and 29, 2022 at the dbb forum in Berlin. Key topics at the congress will be:

  • Sustainable networking of research and healthcare
  • Transfer of digital innovations into regional healthcare
  • Strengthening medical informatics research and teaching
  • Digital medicine on a European level

The welcome address for the SMITH Congress 2022 will be given by Prof. Dr. Veronika von Messling, Ministerial Director and Head of the Life Sciences Department of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. As keynote speaker, Professor Ronald Cornet from the Amsterdam Public Health Research Institute, University of Amsterdam will talk about a European perspective of digital health. On a national level, the leaders of the BMBF-funded “Digital Hubs: Advances in Research and Health Care” will give an insight into the transfer of digital innovations into regional healthcare. In addition to presenting the consortial results achieved during the development and networking phase of the Medical Informatics Initiative, a look at national and European developments in digital medicine is also planned.

Online registration is now open! Registrations are free of charge via our online form!
